FAQ - Questions about the Chicago Mammals General Auditions on Dec 6th and Dec 7th? Read On!

When are the Chicago Mammals' general auditions?

 Saturday December 6th and
 Sunday December 7th

What should I have prepared?

Be prepared to perform two contrasting monologues. We may ask to hear only one of them dependent upon the amount of time we have available to see auditioneers. Also, if you mention on your resume that you play a musical instrument, we ask that you bring it and play a short song on it. If the instrument is too hard to bring to the audition (piano, stand up bass, etc.) then please provide a short 60 sec video of yourself playing the instrument via email, youtube, etc.

How do I set up an appointment to audition?

Please send a headshot and resume to casting.mammals@gmail.com. Please note, we will need both of these documents before setting up an appointment.

What type of performers are the Mammals looking for?

We are looking for both men and women, any and all ethnicity, 22 years or older.

Since the Chicago Mammals are noted for their All Girl Project, are you only casting women?

We are casting everyone! The All Girl Project (which we are very proud of) if only one of the endeavors our company pursues!

What projects are you casting for?

We have a number of projects coming up in 2015 They include workshops and performances. Among them are the following -
  • A Video Series entitled “Steampunk Stephen Hawkings”
  • All Girl Dracula in October of 2015
  • Ibsen’s Enemy of the People Workshop for Fall/Winter Production
  • Plus lots of other pending video and live events.

Can I audition on a different date?

Whereas we want to be as accommodating as possible, these two dates are the only dates that all the members of our casting team are available. There will be individual callbacks on a per project basis, but the only time a performer can be seen by all of the team members who are casting projects in 2015 is Dec 6th or Dec 7th.

Are the Chicago Mammals equity or non-equity?

We are a non-equity company.

Here comes the Chicago Mammals next show! ASSKICKING AMAZONS!

The Chicago Mammals are proud to present

Asskicking Amazons

Conceived and Directed by Bob Fisher

Script devised in collaboration with the cast, crew, and Mammals Company members

What happens when culture war turns into a full scale arms race?

Set 12 years in the future, after the leader of the all female punk band named Asskicking Amazons goes too far during a pirated performance art broadcast, she is forced into hiding being categorized as a home grown terrorist. The remaining band members fight over whether to risk keeping provocation/agitation propaganda at the forefront of their activism.

Asskicking Amazons is a speculative story about how politically driven artists/activists and their patrons/sympathizers increasingly are facing opposition and Government sanctioned risks to their liberty.

Our story takes inspiration from current events like the trials of the Pussy Riot, recent categorization of Insane Clown Posse Juggalos as a recognized gang, as well as historic moments in music history such as the CIA stalking of John Lennon, the trial of Jim Morrison, and the Federal seizing of Dead Kennedy CDs for containing the pornographic work of H.R. Geiger in the jacket sleeve.

Starring Jack Birdwell, Liz Chase*, Sarah Koerner*, Sarah Kopp, A.J. Miller*, Erin Orr*, Emily Radke, Anthony Stamilio*, Justin Warren, Sasha Warren*, Anne Wilson

* Denotes Chicago Mammals Company Member/Artistic Associate

Meet the Cast - Amy E. Harmon - ALL GIRL FRANKENSTEIN closes Dec 14th!

Amy E. Harmon is dangerously thrilled to be working with the Mammals again, having previously appeared as Ahab in All Girl Moby Dick. She's been playing unbalanced characters in Chicago since 1996, from a kleptomaniac teen in Pendulum’s A Kind Lady to Mercutio in Babes With Blades Theatre Company's Romeo & Juliet. Currently serving as the Babes' Managing Director, Amy is also a charter member of the Sans N. E. Sleep Cooperative, a former Advanced Actor/Combatant with the SAFD, a fledgling djembe/dunun geek, a cat-lady-in-training, and the proud wife of the singularly excellent Jeff Lisse.
